This visit was attended and accompanied by the Fish Quarantine Agency, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products KKP RI Jakarta, Quarantine Center, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM Denpasar), Gilimanuk Fish Quarantine Working Unit, Directorate General (Ditjen) Aquaculture Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) UPT Karangasem and the UNIDO Indonesia Team.
This visit in general is to study how various aspects of food safety control of fishery production are implemented in Indonesia. The specific purpose of visiting CV. Putra Bahari Milk Fish Bali is to see firsthand how to implement Good Fish Quarantine Methods based on Bio Security on milkfish seed commodities.
On this occasion, Mr. Meddy Davros as the management representative of CV. Putra Bahari Milk Fish Bali explained how the great potential of consumable milkfish cultivation is so potential to be developed in the Southeast Asian region because it is supported by a relatively conducive climate and small capital. Besides that, milkfish is a fish that is relatively easy to cultivate in bulk and has a stronger disease resistance than other fish commodities. This makes milkfish an alternative fish commodity to meet the needs of consumption fish in the next few years because it has decreasing fish production.
We hope that this visit and presentation will influence the Cambodian government to develop milkfish cultivation for consumption in their country so that they can open a new market for milkfish seeds in the future.
